JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, is responsible to assist the Head Coach in the total organization, administration, and supervision of the Men and Women’s Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field teams, as well as the compliance of College, conference, and NCAA policies and procedures. Responsible for recruiting a diverse population of academically and athletically qualified students.
Duties/Responsibilities: Primary responsibility is instructing/teaching our student-athletes how to perform sports specific skills in the sport(s) Cross Country and Track and Field.
Supervise all practices and contests. Identify and recruit vigorously for academically and athletically qualified students. Conduct all activities within the rules and regulations established by Ramapo College, the NJAC, NCAA, and ECAC. Assist the head coach in monitoring the academic progress of Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track (Running sports) student-athletes. Works with the Head Coach to organize and supervise scouting of opponents. Assists the head coach to ensure that all players obtain their physical examination and complete all related paperwork and procedures before any participation can occur in practice and competition. Assists the head coach and the Athletic Trainers for the care and prevention of athletic injuries, including the development of off-season and pre-season conditioning programs. Maintains rapport with the college community and alumni. Assists in the coordination of the indoor and outdoor athletic facilities’ scheduling. Serves on campus-wide committees as required. Advises and mentors student-athletes. Establish and maintain effective communication and cooperative relationships with the College and surrounding communities. Works with the head coach in meeting goals for retention and graduation rates of Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track. Accountable for knowing all of the policies and procedures in the Coaches Handbook, as well as NCAA, ECAC, and NJAC regulations Have knowledge of and ability to instantly implement Athletics’ Emergency Medical Plan. Serves as the Athletic Facilities Supervisor when needed. Serves as Event/Game Supervisor when needed. Required to work Saturdays, Sundays, and evenings as needed. Meet with the Director of Athletics or head coach bi-weekly to discuss progress and problems. Perform other job-related duties and tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Assists with concessions operations during the fall semester. Handling inventory control, hiring of student-aides, ordering of goods, and keeping accurate records for fundraisers and events. Responsible for recruiting M/W Cross Country and Track and Field student-athletes, with attention to the coordination of recruiting visits, off-campus recruiting, and admissions activities (including monitoring of application process). Continue to serve as the public face of the programs to the community. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and assist in setting up game/field equipment.

Bachelor’s Degree
EXPERIENCE
Collegiate coaching experience in cross country and track and field sports.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Must demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge and experience in supervision of personnel and budgetary matters. Successful collegiate coaching and recruiting for at least five years. Excellent organizational and supervisory skills and techniques.
Must pass the NCAA Coaches exam with an 85%
First Aid / CPR / AED Certified
Certified Van / Transportation Safety
