Marietta College invites applications for a full-time Esports Head Coach position. The Head Coach is responsible for recruiting and developing students for the Marietta College esports program. Additional responsibilities are as follows:
Coach competitive, varsity esports teams by developing a culture of commitment, improvement and pride. Oversee part-time/volunteer assistant coaches. Coordinate and supervise practice schedules. Manage video editing software for film reviews. Monitor academic performance for all esports student athletes. Develop campus awareness to promote student integration and success. Travel with esports teams for LAN competitions. Acquire new knowledge about the rapidly growing field of esports. Acquire new knowledge about game mechanics in esports titles.
Lead recruitment efforts for the esports program by understanding and executing metrics in the following categories: prospects, inquiries, applicants, visitors and deposits. Manage tryouts and recommend scholarship levels. Coordinate with Admissions to develop recruitment events. Travel to scout/recruit players. Develop an esports student athlete retention program.
Manage esports facility including computers and equipment. Purchase esports equipment and apparel. Schedule matches in NACE, GLEC, Collegiate R6, and other tournaments. Represent Marietta College in NACE, GLEC, and other esports meetings. Make travel arrangements for esports teams. Supervise work study students in esports positions. Manage esports operating budget. Head fundraising/sponsorship efforts. Coordinate with Advancement to develop and maintain appropriate relations with alumni. Manage esports social media accounts. Broadcast matches on Twitch. Organize and coordinate on-campus esports events.
Assist with events in the athletics department. Serve on campus committees. Teach a 1-credit class if qualified. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in any field is required. A Master's degree is preferred. Prior esports coaching experience is preferred. Must have knowledge in popular collegiate esports games. At a minimum, one of these games must be League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, or Rainbow Six: Siege. Prior experience in competitive/ranked multiplayer online games is required. Knowledge of NACE, GLEC, CSL, and Marietta College rules and guidelines. Ability to work with video editing software to perform video reviews. Ability to work with recruiting database system. Ability to promote a non-toxic environment during practices and competitions. Flexible full-time schedule based on scheduled practices, competitions, and staff meetings. Must be able to serve as a positive role model for young adults. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse environment. Must be able to travel, and possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable by Marietta's insurance provider. Must possess a strong commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. Must successfully complete a background check.
