Frostburg State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for three Graduate Assistants in the Athletic Communications Department. These positions include a game operations position, a video productions position, and a broadcaster position. Please review the job description below for each position prior to applying. FSU boasts 22 varsity sports (10 men/12 women) at the NCAA Division II level that compete in the Mountain East Conference and the East Coast Conference.
OPERATIONS POSITION Responsibilities: •In-game statistics through NCAA Live stats and Stat Crew •Running or overseeing media table during games •Contact person for pre-matchup information exchanges •Public address •Maintaining FSU Athletics web site •Assist with social media accounts •Writing press releases, game programs and development of media guides •Updating historical information for all sports •Assist in weekly and yearly nominations •Other duties as assigned
VIDEO PRODUCTION POSITION Responsibilities: •Oversee in-game video operations (livestream for games and other special events, Daktronics video board and replay, Daktronics sideline board). •Develop event specific videos to enhance programming. •Develop digital advertising for livestream breaks and display during events at Bobcat Stadium and Bobcat Arena. •Assemble and edit video content for outside media requests. •Develop video content for televised athletic events. •Develop all-sports banquet video for end of year banquet. •Develop video archives for future Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. •Assist Coaches with the production of social media content for their individual team social platforms. •Develop team hype videos to be used for recruiting. •Produce video content needed by the Associate Athletics Director for External Relations to help promote events and solicit support for Bobcat Athletics. External Relations Duties (Assisting Associate AD for External Relations): •Develop video content for virtual appeals and sponsorships appeals. •Develop video content for Athletic Department newsletters, weekly, monthly, quarterly •Develop video content/highlights for home games for hospitality suite •Develop video content for department/team social media fund raising message •Assist with development of messaging to build bobcat club branding and management
BROADCASTER POSITION Responsibilities: •Provides play-by-play or color through the department’s web stream and radio. •Develops game notes and gathers statistics for broadcasts. •Conducts pregame and post-game interviews with coaches and student-athletes. •Assists with the development of a student workforce. •Other duties also may include assisting with game-day statistics tracking, scoreboard operation, public address announcing; writing press releases and feature story writing; updating the athletics web site; design and layout of publications such as media guides and game programs; assisting with social media; and other related duties as needed.
Applicants should possess previous playing experience. Bachelor’s degree required and 3.0 GPA to be admissible to desired graduate program if offered position. This position is granted 12 credit hours tuition waiver per term and 30 credit hours per 12-month cycle. A $3000.00 stipend is paid per semester.
