The NCAA is requesting applications from interested individuals to serve as a NCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer Regional Advisor. This position is one of six regional advisors who assists the national coordinator of officials throughout the year. The position shall assist the national coordinator to further the NCAA’s ongoing commitment to improving the overall quality and consistency of officiating throughout collegiate soccer. Additionally, this position will assist all divisions of NCAA soccer in coordination with the national coordinator in the identification, training, selection and evaluation of officials for each of the NCAA soccer championships. The new regional advisor would have specific oversight over the Midwest region which includes: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. This position is a one-year term, renewable each year. The official term will begin Sept. 1, 2021. A modest stipend is paid during the official term.
Reports to: National Coordinator of Officials and NCAA national office staff with responsibility to the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer Committees and NCAA Soccer Rules Committee.

Duties, Requirements and Responsibilities:
a. Assist National Coordinator in identifying, evaluating, and assigning officials for each round of all six soccer championships.
b. In coordination with the National Coordinator, provide feedback to those officials not selected for an NCAA post season game.
c. Attendance at one of the two NCAA soccer championships to coordinate the officiating crew and assist in the game assignments, subject to the approval of the respective NCAA soccer committee, if requested.
d. Develop contact with and serve as point person to conference assignors on behalf of the NCAA.
e. Solicit feedback from assignors regarding officials in assigned region.
f. Participate in the in-season teleconferences/video conferences with the conference coordinators of officials and participate in teleconferences video conferences with the National Coordinator.
g. Assist the National Coordinator in the development of an annual written report for review by each of the divisional sports committees following the championships.
h. Assist the National Coordinator in providing video clips and educational content for use in online educational materials and officiating clinics.
i. Up to date with current IFAB laws of the game, interpretations, and practical guidance.
j. Other duties as assigned by the National Coordinator or respective soccer committees.
k. Cannot be an active coach or officiate any postseason NCAA competition.
Preferred Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
1. Ability to relate effectively with officials and coaches on a national level (essential).
2. Knowledge of NCAA soccer rules and current officiating mechanics and techniques (essential).
3. Strong administrative and organizational skills (essential).
4. Ability to use email and computer technology as a means of education and correspondence (essential).
5. Knowledge of ArbiterSports (or other similar program) for officiating assigning. (preferred).
6. Experience as an official, clinician and/or as an evaluator of officiating talent (preferred).
7. The selected candidate shall not officiate NCAA postseason soccer matches. (essential).
