Assistant Athletic Director for Performance Nutrition Services
Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, a Division 1 and Big Ten Conference Institution, is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Performance Nutrition Services. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Overseeing all aspects of the performance nutrition area including managing staff, interns, and nutrition students
Providing scientifically accurate performance nutrition education to student-athletes and coaches from 31 varsity teams, and sport performance practitioners
Conducting body composition testing, and developing nutritional strategies essential to maximizing performance including enhancing and monitoring current nutrition resources and support
Developing and implementing policies and protocols that ensure compliance with NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations
Providing performance nutrition counseling to assist student-athletes seeking to lose/gain weight, or who may have special dietary requirements
Directing all day-to-day performance nutrition related activities
Address a wide range of health issues including eating disorders, weight management, gastrointestinal complications, and diabetes
The Assistant Athletic Director for Performance Nutrition Services works closely Department of Nutrition Sciences in the College of Health and Human Development.
Requires a Bachelors degree or higher (Masters degree preferred) in Nutrition Science plus 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working at Division 1 Collegiate Level (or comparable experience) preferred. Registered Dietician (RD) required, and Certified Specialist in Performance Dietetics (CSSD) preferred.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills with the ability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate, and advance strategic plans that support student-athletes and the mission of the Department
Demonstrate ability to design and conduct a performance nutrition program through empirically-supported interventions
Expertise in nutrition counseling and life skill development for athletes and coaches
Broad understanding of the physiological, nutritional, motor movement, and training principles that influence athletic performance
Ability to work within the framework of Federal (FERPA/ HIPAA) and Pennsylvania state laws and regulations with regard to privacy and confidentiality; ability to work collaboratively with a team of sport performance experts
This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required.
