The Assistant Director of Development/Major Gifts is a member of the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation staff and charged with the identification, solicitation, and raising of philanthropic gifts to support Ole Miss Athletics. This position reports to the Associate Athletics Director for Development/Major Gifts.
Examples of Work Performed:
Identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts at the $25,000 to $250,000 level.
Managing and continuously growing a prospect portfolio of currently approximately 150 donors.
Making a minimum of 180 donor visits per year.
Working collaboratively with the major gifts team toward meeting established team goals.
Building relationships with key individuals, corporations, and foundations for development purposes.
Participating in fundraising activities and development events for the benefit of Ole Miss Athletics including but not limited to home game activities, on and off-campus donor events, and other athletics events containing a significant major gift donor presence.
Securing major gifts for the current capital campaign.
Assisting in the development and implementation of future campaigns.
Helping to plan and execute stewardship events for major gift donors and prospects.
Promoting the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation through innovative programming and marketing.
Assisting the Associate AD for Development/Major Gifts in creating and managing a collaborative environment and promoting teamwork among both divisions of the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation – major gifts and annual fund.
Participation in Athletics Department external teams.
Representing Ole Miss Athletics in a positive manner by interacting well with donors, fans, alumni, and community members.
Maintaining institutional integrity through the compliance with NCAA, SEC, and University policies, rules, and regulations.
Traveling and working some nights and weekends.
Performing other duties and projects as assigned.
Essential Functions 1. Building and cultivating donor relationships for major gifts. 2. Participation in stewardship and prospective donor events. 3. Traveling for donor visits and development activities.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
Strong and positive leadership skills.
Computer application skills including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Word, Apple products, donation tracking software, and email.
Knowledge of the practices, principles, and methods of fundraising and general fund management.
Knowledge of NCAA and SEC compliance rules and regulations.
Ability to be highly energetic, self-starting, and creative.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Ability to effectively work in a highly consultative and collaborative environment.
Ability to give and receive information through vision, speaking and listening, and effective motor coordination. Corrective devices may be used.
