As a valued member within the University of Rhode Island and the University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, uphold and embrace the departmental vision in being nationally recognized for creating champions in the classroom, in competition, and in life. Maintain a dual reporting framework of reporting directly to both the University General Counsel and the Director of Athletics. Responsible for implementing a Division I compliance program for 18 varsity sports teams made up of 500+ student-athletes, Athletics Department and University staff, representatives of athletics interests and other outside constituencies. Responsible for education, monitoring, and enforcement of University, Atlantic 10, Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and NCAA rules and regulations and interacting with various campus constituencies and the University community (e.g., Board of Trustees, Senior University Officials, representatives of athletics interests) in implementing an effective compliance program. Serve as the primary liaison between the athletic department coaching staff and the office of Admissions on all incoming freshmen and transfer applicants. Serve as the primary liaison with the offices of University Enrollment Services and other campus partners deemed necessary. Responsible for developing and executing the systems necessary to ensure full compliance with financial aid rules and regulations by coordinating and monitoring the award of financial aid to varsity student-athletes. Serve as liaison with the Atlantic 10, CAA and NCAA for compliance related matters. Responsible for submission of applicable waivers, violation reports and interpretation requests to support student-athletes and staff. Have oversight of two Athletics Compliance staff members.
