Millikin University, a NCAA Division III institution, is accepting applications for Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. Millikin competes in the CCIW, one of the best conferences in Division III. Recruitment and retention of highly qualified student-athletes will be keys to success in the program.
Millikin University is a private, comprehensive institution serving approximately 2,100 students who study in four colleges/schools: Arts and Sciences, Business, Fine Arts and Professional Studies. Millikin Big Blue athletics include 20 NCAA Division III teams. Situated on a beautiful 70-acre campus in Decatur, Illinois (population of 80,000), Millikin is centrally located within three hours of Chicago, Indianapolis, and St. Louis. Last year, 99% of Millikin graduates gained employment or admission into professional or graduate school within six months of graduation.
This is a 12-month, non-tenure track position reporting to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach. A second duty will be assigned dependent on the candidate’s strengths and experience.
1.Help to recruit and retain athletically skilled and academically qualified student-athletes into the men’s basketball program.
2.Participate in planning and implementing practices as assigned by the head coach.
3.Participate in game day coaching as assigned by the head coach.
4.Comply with all applicable Millikin University, CCIW and NCAA rules, regulations and policies.
5.Perform other duties common to assisting in basketball as assigned by the head coach.
1.Perform a second duty as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
2.Serve on institutional committees and task forces as assigned.
3.Serve as Griswold Gym monitor.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred
College coaching preferred
Extensive knowledge of the sport of basketball
Ability to recruit and retain quality basketball student-athletes
Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to various audiences
Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team atmosphere in the Athletic Department
Strong commitment to the University and NCAA Division III philosophy
Demonstrated commitment to the academic and athletic success of the student-athlete
