The University of Sioux Falls Athletic program seeks a qualified individual for a full-time Director of Strength and Conditioning to help in all phases of a successful athletic program. USF is a member of NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Strength and Conditioning
Director of Strength and Conditioning would be responsible for the strength and conditioning program at the University. Together with full-time assistant and other part-time coaches, a successful candidate would work with over 400 student-athletes in 17 NCAA DII sports making sure the student-athletes are trained, using best practices and safe techniques in an organized, well-managed program. The candidate would coordinate and implement, plan and manage all in-season and out-of-season player development and strength conditioning, including both team and individual programming. The candidate would also work to implement all aspects of training, including scheduling, technique training, and goal setting. The candidate would adhere to USF, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, and NCAA DII rules and regulations. The position would include supervision of additional strength coaches, work cooperatively with coaches, and report directly to the Athletic Director.
Administrative duties include record-keeping, scheduling, policy and procedures, communication with coaches, physicians, student-athletes, and administrators. Coordinate budget needs under the supervision of the Athletic Director. Serve as the liaison of the USF Athletic Complex and performs facility monitoring, reports maintenance, and other repair needs to appropriate departments.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
• 5 years of Strength and Conditioning experience. Collegiate level preferred.
• Current certification through a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification program (National Strength Coaches Association and Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association are both accredited)
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certified
• Commitment to the Christian mission of the University.
• Highly organized and detailed, innovative and adaptable, with the ability to think globally while attending to specific details, solving challenges, and addressing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrate excellence with strong written, oral, and spoken communication.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate experience working with student-athletes from varying backgrounds, ethnicities, and genders.
• Dedicated professional with understanding of the time and dedication needed to work with a DII athletic department.
• Ability to work well and be productive with a diverse group of people and as a part of team.
• Weekend, early morning and possible evening work necessary for success in position.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods.
• Ability to successfully pass required background check.
• Proficient with desktop computer, Microsoft Office Suite, and other software as needed for position.
• Travel is necessary with a valid driver’s license required.
