The Northern Virginia Volleyball Association (NVVA), is proud to provide high-quality volleyball training opportunities for over 2,500 hundred athletes in the state of Virginia. Our coaching team is responsible for implementing that high-quality volleyball training. As a member of the team, you have a direct impact on the athlete’s improvement and curriculum enhancement to keep our programs running smoothly. You will also ensure that our training curriculums are well crafted and efficient by monitoring athletes’ performance, coordinating skill and performance assessments, and communicating and learning with other members of our coaching team. NVVA’s amount of programs and athletes generates a constant stream of challenges that require you to continually be innovative with an evolving set of volleyball training methods and sports technologies. Keeping our volleyball training up to date and efficient ensures the growth of our athletes and in turn of volleyball.
4 years of college or professional volleyball playing experience
2+ years of college or professional coaching experience or 4+ years of high-level club volleyball or high school coaching experience
Experience working with both female and male youth athletes
Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, recreational management, sports management or similar
Ability to adjust to changing priorities and make quick decisions
Ability to work well in a team environment with a focus on knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Effective customer service, organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Gold Medal Squared coaching experience or similar
A strong love for volleyball and teaching the game
Work with our Olympic volleyball gold medalist Technical Director and Olympic volleyball silver medalist Performance Director to ensure curriculum quality and athletes performance improvement
Coach multiple teams and programs at various skill levels including private lessons
Be willing to work evenings and travel weekends is a must
Serve as an advisor for athletes and parents throughout their NVVA volleyball journey
Candidates applying for this position should be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted repeatedly throughout the workday
The physical requirements of this job require frequent walking around and demonstrating and assisting with exercise movements; bending, stretching, lifting, pushing, pulling and squatting are movements performed daily
Additional Salary Information: Salary: $26,000 to $32,000 per year depending on experience/
Commissions: $2500 to $7000 (Private lessons, camps, clinics)/Benefits: Health stipend, moving cost stipend, continuing education courses provided such as AVCA convention, GMS, Art of Coaching, etc.
