St. Mary’s Ryken seeks a dynamic, visionary, and collaborative leader to serve as its Community Wellness Director. Reporting directly to the School Principal, the Director will work closely with administrators to lead efforts that promote and support an inclusive community environment for all students, faculty, parents, and community partners.
The Director will have oversight of the Donnie Williams Center, and will work closely with school leadership to ensure that all elements of the community have access to the center and the variety of programming available.The mission of the Donnie Williams Center is to encompass and incorporate all aspects of wellness into St. Mary’s Ryken and the broader community.
The Donnie Williams Center is a centralized, all inclusive, community wellness facility, designed to strengthen, inspire and empower all on their journey toward a balanced lifestyle. Aligned with the St. Mary’s Ryken mission and Xaverian Brother’s core values, it is a place of gathering to connect and explore wellness through intellectual, occupational, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual activities.
Responsibilities of the Director of Wellness will include, but are not limited to:
Teaching Physical Education/Wellness Curriculum courses to SMR Students
Overseeing and programming Physical Education/Wellness Curriculum
Oversee and implement Strength & Conditioning programming and measurable progress for SMR student-athletes with help of SMR Coaches
Oversee programming for SMR Community to include intramural activities, access to the Donnie Williams Center to non-student athletes, faculty, staff and alumni
Oversee outside community wellness programming through access to the Donnie Williams Center
Administrative responsibilities shared with Donnie Williams Center/Athletics Staff such as school day supervision, game day/events management
Hiring fitness instructors and programming fitness classes Observing and evaluating staff with constructive feedback
Managing, maintaining and overseeing facilities in the Donnie Williams Center such as common areas, multipurpose areas and athletic spaces
Providing a safe, professional and equitable environment for all students, athletes and community members
This is an 11 month salaried position.
Preferred candidates will hold a master’s degree or equivalent experience, are a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.), have teaching or consulting experience in high school and/or community wellness programs, and have prior experience directing a health and wellness center. He or she will have strong organizational skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks, anticipate needs, and perform with initiative, mature judgment, and discretion; and the ability to work with specific attention to encouraging student, faculty, parent and community involvement.
