St. Norbert College, located near Green Bay, Wisconsin, is seeking a Director of Athletics and Physical Education.
A Catholic liberal arts institution with nearly 2,000 students, St. Norbert College sponsors a highly competitive, NCAA, Division III, 23-sport athletics program in the academically and athletically strong Northern Collegiate Athletic Conference (multi-sport conference), Midwest Conference (affiliate membership for men’s and women’s swimming and diving) and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. The athletic program is part of a campus community that embraces the Norbertine ideal of communio and provides an educational environment that fosters intellectual, spiritual, and personal development, both inside and outside the classroom. Position responsibilities include:
- Manage all facets of the athletic program, including oversight of staff, coaches, facilities, athletic training, fundraising, scheduling, and the hiring and training of staff. Daily oversight for 23 intercollegiate sports programs, which include NCAA and conference matters. Work with the local and regional communities on matters associated with St. Norbert College athletics. Represent the college on matters related to Northern Collegiate Athletic Conference (multi-sport conference), Midwest Conference (affiliate membership for men’s and women’s swimming and diving), Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, and the NCAA.
- Ensure campus compliance with NCAA Division III regulations; required NCAA reporting, including the Institutional Self-Study Guide (ISSG), Title IX, and college and/or state policies; and ensure necessary reports are filed to include EADA filing and all reports for NCAA.
- Oversee scheduling of events to ensure effective game-day administration and for the daily running of the athletic facilities.
- Conduct meaningful supervision and performance evaluations of all professional staff in the department, which includes attending team practices and games to provide in-person support. Plan and implement physical education courses as well as the hiring and supervising of the instructors under the oversight of the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
- Assist coaches in developing strong academic- and social-intervention programs to bolster student-athlete success, retention, and graduation rates. Work closely with the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) to foster student-athlete success.
- Develop collaborative and effective relationships with various campus offices, including but not limited to financial aid, registrar, student accounts, academic affairs, student affairs, facilities, and operations. Work cooperatively with the Office of Admission to support the recruitment of student-athletes.
