Position Summary Responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the Softball program at the assigned Olivet College. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
One to two years coaching experience at the high school and/or collegiate level and/or competitive collegiate softball experience; some coaching experience preferred.
Ability to recruit within NCAA III rules.
Strong organizational; creative writing; interpersonal; oral communication and computer skills.
Ability to write, draft and edit correspondence for publications.
Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for softball, and the ability to coach and motivate.

Compensation Salary: $9,000.00 for the season
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the head coach with the daily operations of the Olivet College Softball program within the standards of Olivet College, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Educate/coach student-athletes in the game of Softball
Recruit prospective student-athletes according to the enrollment goals and admissions standards of Olivet College and the eligibility requirements of the MIAA and NCAA.
Accept a supervisory role in the absence of the head coach.
Assist head coach with scheduling and coordinating game schedules, team tryouts, practices, meetings, individual workouts and conditioning sessions.
Assist head coach with coordinating the issuance, care, inventory and collection of equipment, uniforms and supplies for softball.
Coordinate facility usage for the softball.
Submit complete team roster and inventory forms to the Athletic Director.
Supervise student-athletes at all times including practices, meetings, workouts, travel and other team functions.
Attend all athletic department meetings and appropriate college functions (pep rallies, homecoming, Hall of Fame inductions, etc.).
Exhibit appropriate conduct with students, coaches, administration, staff, alumni, spectators, officials and opponents at all times.
Provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes and good sportsmanship.
Responsible for the conduct of student-athletes and other involved students at all times-practices, games, travel, other schools, etc.
Maintain current certifications in CPR and First Aid to be held on file in the Office of Athletics.
Perform one additional duty with the athletic program (game administrator for one sport, study table supervisor, etc.) at the discretion of the athletic director.
Submit driving record verification for use of institutional vehicles.
Work within the missions and philosophies of the Comet Athletic Program and Olivet College.
Conduct promotes positive and responsible attitudes and behaviors among student-athletes that coincide with the policies outlined in the Comet Athletic Handbook.
Make decisions that positively affect the Comet Athletic Program.
Establish an environment in which Comet student-athletes are encouraged to develop self-esteem and a positive self-image.
Maintain a proper perspective regarding the priorities of academics and athletics at Olivet College.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching. Requires some travel.
Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
Must work in noisy and crowded environments
