Job Description:
Assist Head Coach with all facets of the baseball program. This position will work with our hitters and a defensive positional group which will be determined based on the candidate's skills. Experience working with catchers is preferred, but not required. Other primary responsibilities include the nationwide recruitment of top student-athletes, developing scouting reports, running camps, assisting with travel arrangements, practice planning, summer ball placement, professional development and other duties assigned by the head coach
Assistant coach must perform duties in compliance with all College, Patriot League, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities (75%):
Player Development (50%)
- develop practice plan for hitters and defensive position group
- provide individual and team instruction to student-athletes
- provide individualized coaching/mentoring to student-athletes
- assess student-athlete skill attainment demonstrated during practice, competition, and in films of both practice and competition
- develop scouting reports for game day preparation through video analysis
- determine specific daily practice activities that will be conducted by student-athletes
- develop instruction for individual student-athletes and specific team needs
- determine pre-competition activities that will be conducted during days of competition
- collaboration with coaching staff, athletic trainer and strength coach
- attend workshops and training sessions for the purpose of researching methods to provide student-athletes with training and instruction on: rules, fundamentals, team concepts, physical health, safety, skill attainment, conference rules and regulations
Recruiting (25%)
- identify talented, academically qualified prospective student-athletes
- consistent communication with prospective student-athletes through phone calls, text messages and emails
- consistent communication with high school and travel coaches in New England and beyond
- on-campus tours with prospective student-athletes
- significant travel, especially during the summer months
- promoting, organizing, and running camps
Secondary responsibilities (25%)
- Administrative duties as assigned, including, but not limited to (10%):
- collaborating with coach to develop annual goals for the program
- ordering and organization of team apparel and equipment
- maintaining records
- effectively communicating with coaches, prospects and parents
- tracking academic progress and providing counseling as appropriate
- assisting with fundraising, marketing and promotional activities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Ability to throw batting practice
- Prior experience instructing and coaching, preferably at the collegiate level
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required
- Computer and video editing skills strongly encouraged
Additional Information:
This is a part time, exempt level position which will extend until June 30, 2021.
