Portland Community College is accepting applications for the position of Head Women’s Soccer Coach. This part-time head coaching position reports to the Director of Athletics and works to ensure compliance with all Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) codes, policies and procedures. The PCC women’s soccer program is seeking a coach with collegiate, high school and or club coaching experiences. Candidates who have formalized training through the US Soccer Federation, United Soccer Coaches, or comparable international soccer coaching qualifications will be given priority. The candidate should have insight and a strong commitment to properly mentoring female student-athletes in both the academic and competitive soccer realm. The Panthers women’s soccer team practices at the beautiful PCC Rock Creek Campus. This is a part-time, salary-stipend position.
Responsibilities: 1.Recruit prospective student-athletes and inform them of Portland Community College Athletics and Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges eligibility requirements. 2.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of eligibility rules, and collaborate with the PCC athletic department on all information needed for completion of eligibility forms and records. 3.Assure that student-athletes complete eligibility requirements for participation including, completion of financial aid applications, enrollment in required credit hours, meeting with academic advisors, and other items as delineated in PCC’s student-athlete agreement. 4.Determine which student-athletes will be offered letters of intent and tuition waiver scholarships. Assure that all student-athletes understand the terms and conditions in receiving tuition waiver scholarships at Portland Community College. 5.Teach a one credit advanced soccer physical education class which provides an additional stipend. Class has the potential to be taught multiple times. Please see link for further details on teaching qualifications: https://www.pcc.edu/instructor-qualifications/pe/ 6.Work with assigned academic advisors and athletic staff to check and track student-athletes academic progress. 7.Work with athletic department in scheduling contests (games, scrimmages, practices) abiding by set NWAC region schedules. 8.Transport teams to games and events and provide proper supervision. Meet all scheduled obligations; work with athletic staff to manage travel expenditures, safety, and promote ethical behavior. 9.Work with the athletic department to assure all game scores are reported to the NWAC office and that statistics, financial receipts, and other required paperwork is properly submitted. 10.Manage, organize, and help plan team budget. 11.Promote the PCC women’s soccer program to student body, faculty, and community. Help plan and facilitate team and athletic department fundraising efforts. 12.Understand and comply with all PCC Athletics and NWAC soccer policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including NWAC rules related to eligibility, playing season dates, travel squad size, home game responsibilities, scrimmage rules and pre and post season tournaments/championships.
