| Southwestern College is currently seeking applicants for a graduate assistant athletic trainer. This position is on a 10 month contract that runs Aug. 1st – May 31st. Southwestern College, an NAIA institution and member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), is a private comprehensive college with an enrollment of about 1,700 students. Supervises Pre-AT Students
Job Summary The graduate assistant athletic trainer works under the supervision of the licensed staff athletic trainers and provides support in the care of over 525 student-athletes at Southwestern College. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities *Injury prevention and care, injury assessment and evaluation, referrals, treatment and rehabilitation, counseling and education *Supervision and education of the Pre-AT students *Daily athletic training facility operations *Working with doctors and other allied healthcare professionals to deliver care to our student-athletes *Recordkeeping, documentation and administrative duties as assigned *Communication of our policies to student-athletes, coaches, and/or parents *Other duties as assigned by the licensed staff athletic trainers
Position includes *Full tuition waiver – approx. $22,000 value (http://www.sckans.edu/graduate/) *On-campus housing *Meal stipend ($200 per semester) *$5,500 stipend *Licensure and membership fees *Medical Services – to be determined
Required Qualifications *Acceptance into Southwestern College’s graduate program *Bachelor’s degree *BOC certification *Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification required *Eligible for licensure by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts *Experience within an ATEP program preferred *Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with a variety of athletes, coaches, and the public in the higher educational setting
