Requirements: |
Duties and Responsibilities: May include, but not limited to the following: - Assist head coach in managing and direction of softball program.
- Pitching Coach-work with pitchers and catchers specifically.
- Assists head softball coach with all aspects of the team including training, competing and scheduling.
- Organizes and maintains accurate inventory of softball equipment and uniforms.
- Coordinates travel arrangements.
- Organizes and completes all required paperwork for compliance forms such as weekly countable activity logs.
- Assists with recruiting program development and evaluation of potential student-athletes and maintain accurate records for review.
- Commits to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, Eastern New Mexico University, the Lone Star Conference and the NCAA with the highest integrity.
- Completes other assigned administrative duties.
- Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department and University, attends department meetings and activities, and always represents the University positively.
- Attend seminars, conferences and other professional development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Minimum Job Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in HPE or related field is required.
- Previous experience as high school and/or college softball coach and/or strong background as softball athlete are also preferred.
- A valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment is also required, as well as the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and road conditions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The following are essential: - Ability to recruit, coach and teach highly talented student-athletes.
- Ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the university, the Lone Star Conference and the NCAA.
- A proven record in following directives and being responsible for tasks which have been assigned.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment as needed.
- Ability to attend seminars, meetings and other professional development opportunities at or away from ENMU.
- Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively - orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
- Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
- Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment.

Working Conditions: |
Physical Demand and Working Conditions: - Work is performed during regular work hours, but will require frequent evening and weekend hours and frequent traveling.
- Work performed both inside a non-smoking facility and outside with extremes of cold and hot temperature changes, wet and humid conditions.
- May have exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
- Work is medium in nature that at times requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
