LeTourneau University is seeking a part-time enthusiastic Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer. Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and be certified or eligible to sit for the NATABOC certification exam. LETU is a private, Christian, NCAA DIII institution and competes in the American Southwest Conference.
Duties include but are not limited to: •Preventing, assessing, treating, managing, and rehabilitating athletic injuries and conditions affecting student-athletes. •Providing administration of daily treatments and reconditioning programs for student-athletes and assist where needed in other sports. •Providing coverage during practices and events, including evening and weekend events. •Consulting with coaches regarding conditioning, nutrition, and safety of athletes. •Primary sport assignments: Men’s and women’s track and field, women’s soccer. •Attendance at all practices and meetings is required.
Desirable Knowledge, Abilities and Skills •Allied health skills dealing with care and prevention of injuries/conditions occurring to student-athletes. •Ability to provide proper rehabilitation techniques in dealing with athletic injuries. •Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Ability to work practices on the field and court is required. • Ability to work extended hours outdoors in varying weather conditions is required. • Physical demands are moderate to high based upon practice and requirements. • Standing, walking, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 60 lbs. regularly are common. • Job includes considerable travel during the week and weekends over the course of the season. • Early morning, evening and late-night hours are common to the position.
Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 to qualify for graduate tuition waiver. Must be accepted to LeTourneau University graduate school of choice.
