Limestone University, a Division II institution invites applications for the full-time, 12-month position of Assistant Cheerleading Coach.
The successful candidate will assist with the facilitation of all aspects of the program including, but limited to the following:
Assist with the recruiting process of prospective student athletes. Assist them with required information for admission to the school. Provide continuing conversations and contacts to prospective student/athletes. Guide them through the enrollment process. Coordinate the process for signing each athlete’s letter of intent once they commit to LU. Recruit student athletes that are a “good fit” with the University as well as to the athletic team. Meet enrollment targets including the retention of student athletes.
Assist with supervision and training of cheerleading team members during athletic sporting events (home and away football games during the fall semester, men’s and women’s home basketball games during the spring semester).
Possess knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies & techniques of the sport and utilize ethics in coaching techniques and in injury prevention.
Ability to teach collegiate level stunt skills to athletes including elite stunts, 2 ½ high pyramids, inverted/twisting baskets, and other elite college level cheer skills.
Assist with instruction of tumbling technique and ability to provide hands-on spotting to athletes (beginner to advanced twisting skills).
Assist with the facilitation of team member development, oversee academic progress and enhancement of student-athletes, and other duties needed to continue the success of the program.
Additional duties to be assigned by the head coach
A Bachelor’s degree is required along with a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of Limestone University. Candidates must have previous successful coaching or instruction experience. AACCA Certification is desired. Experience as a collegiate cheerleader or a strong background in cheerleading/gymnastics is required. The selected candidate must be willing to consent to, and pass with satisfactory results, an investigative consumer report.
