Xavier Athletics Xavier Athletics will begin competition in softball beginning with the 2020-21 academic year and is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Softball Coach to meet the goals of guiding and leading an elite-level program with effective management; as well as to promote academic achievement and character of the student-athlete, fans, and within the University community. Xavier competes primarily in the NAIA’s Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.
-Assisting the head coach with all responsibilities involving the softball program.
-Evaluating and recruiting athletically and academically qualified student-athletes.
-Assist the head coach with monitoring academic progress and the retention of students.
-Assist the head coach with assuming responsibility for sportsmanship, conduct, and academic progress of all students and staff affiliated with the softball program.
-Assist the head coach with planning practice sessions in accordance with regulations.
-Assist head coach with managing fundraising and alumni relations.
-Supervise graduate assistants and managers.
-Manage equipment and uniform procurement and inventory.
-Be able to coordinate and analyze game film/stats.
-Assist in organizing softball camps.
-Coordinate team travel.
-Promote the athletic program through attending community events, public speaking, fundraising, revenue generation, and marketing.
-Comply with NAIA, conference, and University rules, regulations, and policies.
-Performs any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Head Coach and/or Assistant Vice President of -Student Affairs & Director of Athletics.
-A creative self-starter with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) with two years of related experience.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
-Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and video editing software.
