Job Title: Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations
Rhodes College has 23 NCAA Division III sponsored sports and are members of the Southern Athletic Association. The Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations (ADAMR) position is a two-year, 10-month NCAADivision III Ethnic Minority and Women's InternshipGrant appointment and reports to the Director of Athletic Media Relations. The ADAMR will be expected to effectively create new media content to promote the Rhodes College brand, assist in coordinating outreach and marketing efforts to increase event attendance, implement a fan experience and assist in coordinating special events.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for producing content and assisting with general marketing and sports information tasks and providing equal support to the entire athletic department while adhering to NCAA Division III compliance guidelines.
Manage aspects of the statistical processes for athletic events. Rhodes uses a variety of statistical programs for reporting statistics to the NCAA: Statcrew, PrestoStats, and NCAA Live Stats.
Provide supervision and mentorship to student workers.
Create new media content to promote Rhodes College Athletics through video/multimedia production, social media engagement, graphical design, and press releases.
Supports game-day management by setting up and taking down video and sound system equipment.
Develops and maintains the athletic department website including marketing and promotions, photography, and publications.
Assists with other duties as assigned.
This position will be the primary contact for several sports, to be assigned. Due to the grant regulations, there will be certain NCAA professional development opportunities the intern is required to attend.
The successful candidate must be experienced in addressing and identifying issues affecting ethnic minorities and women. For the purposes of the grant, racial ethnic minorities are described pursuant to the Federal guidelines of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB):

Hispanic or Latino: A person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race.
Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander (not Hispanic or Latino): A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa or other Pacific Islands.
2-3 years of undergraduate experience in a sports information/athletic communications office
Basic video editing, social media and graphic design skills, problem solving, and experience using a video camera and DSLR camera
Experience writing publications
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain a strong working relationship with students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and other college personnel
Must have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends throughout the school year
Valid driver's license and must be qualified to be insurable by the College
Postgraduate or internship experience in a sports information/athletic communications office
Experience compiling in-game statistics for football, volleyball or men's/women's lacrosse
New media experience, particularly on video editing
Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, InDesign, and Photoshop
