The Washington & Jefferson College department of athletics offers internships to provide a hands-on learning experience with a NCAA Division III sports organization. The W&J coaching internships are excellent opportunities toward a career in coaching and/or athletic administration.
The softball internship provides a stipend, housing and meals.
The program's objective is to use the college’s NCAA Division III sports to give aspiring men and women opportunities to observe, participate and gain experience to eventually become a head coach at the collegiate level.
The intern will have the ability to be exposed to resume-building situations while applying coaching concepts and principles. Hands-on opportunities to work with equipment and technology offered by the college will also enhance the experience. In addition, the intern will have the opportunity to be exposed to the administrative side of the athletic department through experiences with game management, facility coordination or working with the college’s Student Athlete Advisory Council.
The Head Softball Coach is the intern’s primary supervisor. The intern will also be evaluated by the Director of Athletics.
Stipend: $10,000 (10-month contract – August thru May) Housing: On-campus apartment (two interns per apartment); Utilities included with the exception of cable and home internet Meal Stipend: $100 per month (10 months starting in August)
Supervisory Duties The position does not require managing other employees.
