POSITION SUMMARY The Head Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach will oversee the intercollegiate Women’s Swimming and Diving program at Franciscan University. The position’s most important duties include instructing student athletes on the rules and fundamentals of the sport during practice (both in team and individual settings), preparing the student-athletes for competition, and coaching on game days. The Head Coach is responsible for supporting the academic and spiritual development of each student-athlete, and will also engage in other secondary duties as described below.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Responsible for supervision of team, assistant coaches, and team managers. 2.Responsible for player development; tactical and technical in all swimming events and all diving events; in-season activities necessary for athletic development, and for gameday strategy and coaching. 3.Responsible for balancing the women's swimming and diving annual budget. 4.Promotes the academic development of each student-athlete and a team culture of academic excellence. 5.Promotes a team culture in which the Catholic faith and Christian moral principles are integrated into the daily activities of the athletic program. 6.Learns and complies with all relevant NCAA and conference rules and regulations. 7.Coordinates with other Athletic staff and other university departments on logistical issues such as contest scheduling, team travel, field/venue maintenance, and gameday preparation. 8.Communicates with prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations and coordinates all recruitment activities with both the Athletic office and the Admissions office. 9.Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

REQUIREMENTS Must understand, support and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:
Work Experience •Swimming and diving coaching experience required--minimum of 3 years at high school and above. •Collegiate swimming and/or diving coaching experience preferred.

? Education •Bachelor’s degree required. •CPR and First Aid Certification. •Water Safety Instruction Certification.
Technical Skills •Knowledge of collegiate level coaching tactics in women’s swimming and diving. •Effectively sequence development skills in the context of a single practice and a full season in both swimming and dive events. •Provide proper instruction of strokes, land skill workouts and water drills and dive skills. •Must be knowledgeable of any NCAA III Philosophy, Rules and Regulations pertaining to women’s swimming and diving. •Will be required to drive a 12-passenger van to practices and/or meets.
Workplace Factors •Must be able to endure long periods of coaching in both practice and game settings, which will involve travel and equipment. •Must be able to travel with team for all scheduled meets. •Must be available for morning practices and weekend meets.
