Carthage College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, is seeking applications for a Head Women’s Bowling Coach. This part time position requires two years previous successful coaching and or participation experience at the college or high school level. Additionally, knowledge of USBC and bowling techniques. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Head Women’s Bowling Coach will assume all aspects of coaching, recruiting, scheduling, travel and budget management. Evening and weekend hours are essential and must be cleared to drive college vehicles. They will work closely with the Athletic Director and Vice President for Enrollment to set annual recruiting goals.
Along with educational and sport experience, consideration will be given to the candidate who’s characteristics maintain and promote the academic pursuits of Carthage student-athletes; comply with and reinforce the athletic department’s rules and mission; acts professionally and communicates appropriately with the college’s students, coaches, administration, staff, alumni and spectators; as well as willingness to develop professionally. Essential Duties:
Provides leadership and supervision in all aspects of the bowling program including, recruitment, retention, academic support, practice preparation, game day environment, alumnae development, fundraising, and community service
Recruitment of student athletes who meet the Colleges’ admission requirements
Coordinates and outline a complete recruiting agenda to identify quality student athletes. This should include names of players, high school visits, coaching contacts, personal contacts, attendance at tournaments and competitions, telephone and email contacts and campus visits
Ensures compliance with all College and NCAA rules and regulations related to recruiting and academic monitoring for student-athletes.
Collaborates with the Director of Athletic Communications for the positive promotion of the athletic department.
Develops an annual operating budget and oversee the purchasing, distribution and collection of all equipment
Works closely with Director of Athletics on long and short-term planning for the bowling program
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
2 years previous successful coaching and/or participation experience on the college or high school level
Must be cleared to drive college vehicles
Evening and weekend hours essential
Understands the mission of Carthage College and recruits student athletes that best represent the values of the institution.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as well as USBC and bowling techniques.
