Softball Factory is a division of Factory Athletics, which includes two brands: Baseball Factory, Softball Factory. In 2020, these brands will hold over 1000 events nationwide for student athletes ages 10-18 ranging from one day scouting evaluations/tryouts to multi day player development experiences and tournaments. These events provide athletes with world-class instruction, life changing experiences and a powerful college recruiting platform that has assisted in attaining over 1 billion in college scholarships. Factory Athletics consists of 60 full-time employees and 1,500 part-time throughout the U.S. Company Headquarters are in Columbia, MD. Founded in 1994, Baseball Factory is the leading baseball player development company in the United States. Baseball Factory’s reach includes players at every division of college baseball highlighted by at least one Baseball Factory player at 98% of division I schools. With our focus on player development, we have fostered partnerships with the leading amateur baseball organizations in the county. Those partnerships include Little League Baseball, National Amateur Baseball Federation and American Legion Baseball. In addition to the success at the collegiate level, Baseball Factory has dominated the landscape in the professional level, with 1 out of every 3 players in the 2016 draft coming through the Factory. The Factory has taken its three-pronged approach successfully into fastpitch softball. Softball Factory is partnered with Dick’s Sporting Goods, Wilson and ASA/USA Softball. In addition to our Softball Factory National Tryout Tour, we have created unique player development experiences that have included ones centered around Team USA and the College World Series.
Since the fall of 2011, Softball Factory has provided a national platform of events nationwide to give all players access to the best instruction and recruiting assistance to help take them to the next level. 2020 will be another bright year of continued growth to impact yet even more players.
Job Overview: The qualified candidate will lead the Softball Department. Factory Athletics is searching for the next leader to oversee Softball programs for girls 10-18 starting in February 2020. The qualified candidate will develop events nationwide for players at the youth and high school level. In addition, the candidate will develop a network of staff throughout the country to run events and evaluate players.
Position Summary/Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Direct all Softball operations
2.Oversee and develop instruction taught at events and by staff
3.Evaluate players and develop training process for outside evaluators
4.Research and secure facilities for Softball Factory events
5.Lead Organizer at youth and high school events
6.Attend Softball networking events as needed
7.Create player development programs as an enhancement to youth and high school events
8.Create instructional video tips and drills
9.Travel to Softball Factory events nationwide.
Critical Performance Characteristics:
Essential types of knowledge required in this position: Strong understanding of Softball college recruiting, youth training and instruction techniques. In addition, general business knowledge and must be extremely organized. General computer knowledge is also required. Essential performance skills required in this position: Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients. Management skills, leadership, and motivational ability are crucial. Organization, detail oriented, and multi task skills are also essential. Ability to budget time effectively. Essential behavior required in this position: Ability to get along with others is crucial. An unselfish “can do” attitude is essential. Need to be willing to do whatever it takes to stay within deadlines and remain on task. Patience is a must as well. Being a self-starter, team player is essential. MUST be willing to travel to develop and enhance the brand.
