UPUI Athletics is seeking a passionate fundraiser to serve as Assistant Athletics Director for Development with IUPUI Athletics. As Assistant Athletic Director for Development, you will work closely with school administrators and colleagues at the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the Indiana University Foundation, to cultivate, solicit, and steward private donors and corporate supporters for annual scholarships; and other activities related to the development process. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting personal visits with key IUPUI shareholders and documenting them in the current Indiana University Foundation system. The position will manage the entire donor and prospects portfolio. The position will also participate collaboratively in departmental functions and events involving alumni, coaches, students, and staff and will work closely with the Indiana University Foundation on a number of fronts including Major Gifts, Annual Fund, and Stewardship programs. Comply fully with all NCAA, Horizon League, and IUPUI rules and regulations. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Responsible for progressing prospects to all levels of giving, including major and planned gifts. Identify, cultivate, and steward current and prospective annual giving and major gift donors; evaluate the effectiveness of development programs and secure gifts at various levels. Responsible for progressing prospects to all levels of giving, including major and planned gifts; design and analyze strategies to be utilized in the solicitation of funds from individuals, corporations and foundations. In addition to fundraising for all levels of giving you will also assist with the planning and execution of fundraising-related events for IUPUI Athletics. Responsible for documenting all contacts with current and prospective donors in the Indiana University Foundation database. The incumbent will keep detailed reports on the number of contacts per month.
This position requires a high level of decision making, judgment, and accountability. Incumbent is required to work with high-level donors and is entrusted with highly confidential information. In the scope of managing the entire annual giving process, the level of discretion and accountability is high. For example, the incumbent would use data available to identify giving prospects. The person would then work to develop a relationship with that prospect. Over time the incumbent would have knowledge of the donor’s interests and would work to put together a major gift plan. That plan would then be executed and major gifts would be received at the University.
This position is accountable and responsible for raising funds for our annual giving program. This position assists in the coordination of these efforts and is the key annual giving fundraiser in the field. The incumbent is accountable for identifying and visiting prospects. He/she will be responsible for soliciting major gifts from our major gift prospect list. The position will also be responsible to cultivate and solicit the donors they manage within their portfolio.
Bachelor’s degree and three years of working in fundraising, development, or a related field and Fundraising experience.
Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel) and Database Management. Project management skills. Knowledge of development and fundraising concepts focusing on donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Excellent communication and organizational skills and high-level writing and editing skills.
