The Learning Specialist/ Study Table Coordinator will work in Academic & Student Services in the Athletics Department providing comprehensive academic support to more than 375 student-athletes attending the University of California, Irvine. The Learning Specialist/Study Table Coordinator will help student athletes by providing various programming services such as assist in class scheduling in coordination with students' academic advisor, advanced learning assistance for under prepared and disabled learners, assist in providing tutor appointments, oversees quiet study table sessions and overall computer lab monitoring. Learning Specialist/Study Table Coordinator must be willing to work evenings 3-4 nights a week every quarter to oversee study table.
Salary: Annual $41,269.00 - $45,000.00
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F; occasional evenings Career Position
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of education/experience. 1-3 years' experience higher education. Experience working with academically underprepared students. Sensitivity to, respect for, and understanding of educational and social developmental needs of student-athletes. Demonstrated ability to help students with motivation and engagement around academics. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse educational, cultural, and economic backgrounds. Strong oral communication skills.
