Brandeis University seeks to hire a Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach in the Department of Athletics.
The Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach oversees all aspects of NCAA Division III men's and women's tennis programs competing as a member of the University Athletic Association (UAA). Specifically, planning and implementing a training schedule, overseeing daily practices, match coaching, recruiting potential student-athletes, home match management, travel management for away competition, attending division as assigned.
Essential & Other Functions:
Directs a daily training and practice schedule to train student-athletes to compete in the sport of tennis. Coordinates practice times with the departments administration.
Responsible for planning all in-season practice sessions and developing an off-season training schedule and program. Directs all game coaching at home and on the road including managing team travel details while traveling.
Manages the student-athlete recruitment effort for the tennis program including traveling to high school matches and tournaments, evaluating prospective players, and generating applications to the University. Responsible for annually recruiting an incoming class of tennis student-athletes that contribute to the continuing success of the team and to the University community at large.
Manages fund raising and alumni relations activities for the tennis program including an annual alumni game and annual team fund raisers. Helps to promote the tennis program on campus and within the local community.
Manages mentoring of tennis student-athletes and providing advice in the areas of academics, disciplinary and personal matters.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and understanding of Division III student-athlete philosophy. Ability to communicate effectively and develop rapport with community, staff and students.
Coordinates teaching Physical Education classes within the Universities degree-required program including maintaining current certifications when applicable.
Bachelor's degree required
3-5 years of total work-related experience
Previous coaching experience required
Valid driver's license required
Must be qualified to be insured by Brandeis University
