Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine - Athletic Training
Primary Position Function: To provide prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries and illnesses to all student-athletes in the Women’s Basketball sport program.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate prevention, care, rehabilitation and evaluation of all athletic-related injuries and illnesses during practices and athletic competition, utilizing all the resources within the university and community. Coordinate and promote a communication network for student-athletes, parents, coaches and medical personnel working with the established DIA Sports Medicine policies and procedures and established guidelines of the health care profession and medical community. Maintain and document medical records, rehabilitation programs and reconditioning programs of student-athletes’ injuries and illnesses within medical documentation system. Coordinate the development of rehabilitation and treatment programs for specific injuries and illnesses for short term and long term care for men’s basketball. Supervise and assist with maintaining appropriate Occupational and Safety, Health Administration guidelines, maintaining a clean, healthy and safe workplace. Provide medical coverage for all home and away women’s basketball games. Collaborate with the strength and conditioning staff, sports nutrition staff and sport coaching staff in developing reconditioning, performance and wellness programming.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institution rules that related to this position is required.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
Required: Master’s degree in field of Athletic Training
Required: Previous 3-5 years’ experience as a NCAA DI Athletic Trainer
Preferred: Previous 3-5 years’ experience as a NCAA DI women’s basketball Athletic Trainer
Training, Licenses or Certifications:
Required: Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification, licensed or eligible for licensure as a Certified Athletic Trainer by the State of Illinois.
Preferred: Well versed in the use of current manual therapy, modality and rehabilitation equipment and techniques
