St. Joseph's College, a 4 year institution with campuses located in Long Island and Brooklyn, New York invites applications for the position of Director of Athletics and Recreation on the Brooklyn Campus. St. Joseph's College- Brooklyn houses 13 varsity sport programs (7 women's & 6 Men's) on the NCAA Division III level and is a full member of the Skyline Conference. Reporting to the Vice President for Athletics and Campus Services, the Director of Athletics and Recreation shall have authority and oversight to progressively lead and advance the athletics department while remaining on par with NCAA, conference and Institutional strategic plans.
Key Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Build and maintain a sustainable environment that fosters academic excellence student athlete well-being and competitive athletic success.
Provide vision, leadership, and supervision to all athletic department personnel
Review, formulate and recommend policies and procedures for the effective conduct of the intercollegiate athletic programs
Preparation of long/short term program goals to include personnel, programs, and facilities
Coordination and oversight of athletic facilities
Administer and interpret NCAA Division Ill and conference rules and regulations
Plan and achieve successful fundraising strategies
Show fiscal responsibility in the preparation and management of annual department and program budgets.
Promote and sustain a culture of transparency, professionalism, integrity and respect
Create and promote recreational activities that encourage healthy lifestyles
Maintain positive relationships with internal and external college constituencies as well as alumni groups
Demonstrate a commitment to continued learning/ professional development.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Athletics and Campus Services
Qualifications & Requirements:
Master's degree with a minimum of five years' of College Athletic Administration experience
Successful candidate should demonstrate managerial, organizational and planning skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills a must; ability to work effectively with multiple and diverse groups.
Demonstrated success with budgeting, fundraising and financial business negotiation.
Dedicated commitment to academic, athletic and personal, ethics integrity and character,
Ability to work nights and weekends; some travel required
