The Director of Athletics (AD) reports directly to the President and has overall responsibility for leading the Division II intercollegiate athletics programs at the University with a commitment to student-athlete excellence in the classroom and on the playing field. The Athletic Director is responsible for administering the Men's and Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Programs and supervising the head coaches and administrative staff; responsible for policies, program direction, assessment, budget expenditures, facility management and resource development for athletics programs; responsible for developing and submitting proposals for funding the Athletic Program as well as coordinating special events.
Master's degree required; terminal degree preferred; A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in intercollegiate athletics administration is required. Experience in managing within a strong regulatory or compliance environment, either directly in National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) or analogous environments in related professional regulations. Knowledge of NCAA regulations, requirements and reporting systems is necessary and the legal, ethical, and regulatory environment of intercollegiate athletics. Excellent skill in written and interpersonal communication, giving presentations, customer service and supervisory/management skills. Demonstrated managerial and business acumen with a customer service orientation. High personal and professional integrity. Fundraising experience preferred.
