The Graduate Assistant for Diving will provide administrative support to the Northwestern Swimming & Diving program, including assisting with organizing and planning home meets. Primarily supporting the Assistant Coach for Diving, the Graduate Assistant will work morning, evening and weekend hours as dictated by practice, games, recruiting and other swimming and diving related events.
Acceptance into a graduate program at Northwestern University is required. The GA must enroll in at least two courses per quarter during the regular academic year. A tuition waiver is provided, as well as a monthly room and board stipend. This position does not provide benefits.
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
One-year term; eligible to renew graduate assistantship for a second year based on year-end performance evaluation.
Reports to the Director of Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving but primarily focuses on assisting the diving program; Liaison between swimming and diving programs
Assist with all administrative needs including, but not limited to, keeping a regular office schedule, drafting correspondence, completing paperwork, booking travel, completing expense reports, and logging hours/inputting information into compliance software.
Assist with coaching responsibilities as needed, especially in the absence of head diving coach; be on the pool deck or in office area for weekly practices
Assist and help in organization and execution of home meets.
Graduate Assistants are permitted to meet with prospects on the Northwestern University campus and attend meals in conjunction with an official visit.
Graduate Assistants are limited in the scope of activities that involve prospect aged students that they may engage in. All such activities must be pre-approved by the Compliance Office in advance. Under no circumstances may a Graduate Assistant provide private lessons to any prospect, regardless of gender or sport, who has started classes for the ninth grade.
Graduate Assistants are prohibited from contacting and evaluating prospective student-athletes off campus.

Excellent writing, editing and verbal skills.
Collegiate diving experience preferred.
Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred.
