The Richard Bland College of William & Mary is currently seeking an Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach/Student-Athlete Development Coordinator. Richard Bland College is a member of the NJCAA and a member of Region 10. Reporting to the Director of Men’s & Women’s Soccer & the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach/Student-Athlete Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting with all phases of the Women’s Soccer program in accordance to National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules and philosophies. Primary duties include the education and development of the student athlete. This includes instruction on how to perform their sport, balance academic and athletic commitments, maintain their health, and work as a team both in their sport and as part of the school.
•Assist in continuing to enhance our nationally competitive intercollegiate program, striving for team athletic and academic excellence. •Help conduct practices, individual workouts and skill development with the Head Coach •Recruit and retain qualified Student-Athletes. •Provide leadership to ensure that athletes conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with the college and athlete code of conduct. •Report game statistics to the Director of Athletics Communications. •Assist with in-game coaching. •Coordinate team travel. •Actively participate in campus programs. •Other duties as assigned.
In addition, other ancillary duties and responsibilities will consist of being the Student Athlete Development Coordinator. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•Oversee the Student Athlete study hall program. •Serve as a member on the Faculty Committee for Student Athlete Success. •Work closely with the Learner Mentors to make sure athletes stay on track to graduate. •Track all mid-semester progress reports and attendance sheets from all athletes. •Secure appropriate forms from student-athletes (progress reports, study hall sheets, and attendance sheets). •Monitor student-athlete dorm rooms and living arrangements monthly. •Assist with special projects assigned by the Athletic Director.
• An undergraduate degree in Sports Management or a relevant discipline • Prior coaching experience (High School or College) or collegiate playing experience • Strong interpersonal skills relevant to faculty, staff and students • Valid Driver’s License • Enthusiastic commitment to the Richard Bland College mission, vision and RBC-19 goals? • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment ?to do so as a faculty member at RBC
• Background and experience working within a collegiate recreation and/or athletic department • Ability to organize and maintain accurate inventory of equipment, uniforms, and other supplies • Demonstrated record of coaching excellence, service, and leadership • Ability to effectively work with a diverse student population, staff, faculty and parents and have a strong communication, and interpersonal skills • Working knowledge and understanding of NJCAA policies
