POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The assistant coach will help foster a distinctive culture in competitive athletics that commissions student-athletes to impact the world for Christ. The primary purpose is to support the head coach’s involvement in coaching and will be assigned the position of head coach for the JV program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: •Maintain a commitment to NCAA, Conference, and University rule compliance. •Strive to reflect the Athletic Department core values: Christ-centered, Excellence, Integrity, Community, and Humility. Offer ongoing support to develop a culture that emphasizes these values. •Keep current with and follow NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations as they apply to recruiting, eligibility, and finances. •Attend annual continuing-education programs for NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations as they apply to recruiting, eligibility, and finances. •Report any NCAA, Conference, and University rule violations to the compliance coordinator. •Understand that violations of NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. •Assist the head coach in the day to day operations of the program. •Assist in the administration and organization of volleyball camps. •Lead and mentor student athletes spiritually. •Ability to break down match video for scouting and player review. •Coordinate recruitment and recruit student-athletes that fit the mission of CU. •Be the head coach of the JV program. •Establish and maintain communication with alumni. •Assist in the coordination of MIS trips. •Other duties assigned by the head coach.
QUALIFICATIONS: •BA degree required, Masters preferred. •Previous coaching experience preferred at college or club. •Ability to communicate and interact effectively with coaches, student-athletes, parents and others. •Knowledge of NCAA DI or DII either as athlete or coach preferred. •Self-motivated with initiative and work ethic. •Ability to work with limited supervision. •Have access to/use of a personal vehicle. •Show: Enthusiasm, Dependability, Creativity, Motivation, Flexibility, Integrity, and Organization
