In its 26th year, the Centennial Conference, one of NCAA DIII’s most prestigious athletic conferences, seeks an experienced, highly qualified candidate for the position of Executive Director to begin late spring 2019.
The Executive Director is the chief administrative officer of the conference, responsible for all facets of the conference operations, including budgets, rules enforcement and interpretation, meetings, scheduling, championships, awards, and officiating. The Executive Director reports to a council of eleven presidents and athletic directors (Bryn Mawr, Dickinson, Franklin & Marshall, Gettysburg, Haverford, Johns Hopkins, McDaniel, Muhlenberg, Swarthmore, Ursinus, and Washington College).
The Executive Director:
is the chief liaison between the Conference and the NCAA, serves as Conference representative at numerous NCAA meetings, maintains a thorough knowledge of NCAA rules, and is committed to the Division III philosophy;
administers, interprets, and enforces the Centennial Conference constitution, philosophy, bylaws, and regulations;
commits to diversity and inclusion in all its forms;
oversees all media relations for the Conference and maintains a vibrant website, video network, and social media presence;
schedules all conference athletic events and championships for the 24 sports of the 11 members and six associate members;
works closely with the Executive Committee of Athletic Directors to present a balanced budget for Presidents’ Council approval;
manages all aspects of the conference central office, currently located on the campus of Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster, PA;
supervises an associate director and frequently an NCAA intern;
hosts meetings for various campus-based athletic support staff; and
initiates frequent and effective communication and strategic planning with a complex network of multi-campus constituencies and leadership groups such as presidents, athletic directors, coaches, student-athletes, etc.
The search committee invites applications and nominations from accomplished and diverse leaders of high integrity who recognize the importance of competitive collegiate athletics at highly selective private colleges and universities. Significant athletic leadership experience at the college/university or conference level is mandatory.
