The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletic Department, an NCAA DIII member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (WIAC), is seeking applicants for the position of Head Baseball Coach. This position will also serve as the Pioneer Activity Center Employment Coordinator. Additionally, this position is responsible for field maintenance of the UW-Platteville Baseball & Softball Fields. This is a full-time, 12-month basis appointment with excellent fringe benefits.
Responsible for leading, planning and administering all phases of an NCAA Division III baseball program with the utmost integrity, while developing a successful baseball program to ensure competitive success at the conference and national levels. Duties include, but are not limited to, ensuring student-athlete well-being, academic success & graduation, recruiting and developing top student-athletes, fundraising, fiscal responsibility, scheduling, team travel, developing community support for the program, field maintenance, camp operations, and hiring/supervision of assistant coach(es). Ensure knowledge and adherence to compliance of NCAA, WIAC and UW-Platteville rules, regulations and policies. Responsible for the hiring, scheduling, training and supervision of student employees, including lifeguards, of the Pioneer Activity Center. Will be responsible for certifying new employees in CPR and will also certify lifeguards. Will balance daily income for the PAC.
Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution
Minimum three (3) years baseball coaching experience on the collegiate level or five (5) years on the high school varsity level
Organizational, written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of computer applications for recruiting software and video breakdown
Fundraising, event planning and camp experience
Ability to travel frequently and to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays
Transferable skills, educational background, expertise or experience to serve as the Employment Coordinator for the Pioneer Activity Center (PAC) fitness/recreation center.
CPR instruction certificate required by December 2018.
Lifeguard instruction certificate required by December 2018.
Proven success as a head coach or top level assistant at the collegiate level
Demonstrated success in recruiting top caliber talent
