Stockton University, an NCAA Division III athletics program and a member of the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference, invites applicants for the position of Full-time Head Rowing Coach. Appointment begins as soon as feasible.
Responsibilities: • Direct a rowing program that promotes the personal development, welfare, safety and sportsmanship of each participant while striving for competitive excellence; provide exemplary professional leadership and demonstrate the highest moral and ethical conduct. • Support the Athletics and Recreation vision, mission and values and work toward the achievement of identified departmental goals; foster cooperative and supportive working relationships with the staff in the department and contribute to a positive working environment. • Recruit academically and athletically qualified student athletes in concert with the university mission; support and monitor the academic progress of the rowers; assist with academic advising and provide appropriate resource recommendations to those requiring assistance; maintain the goal of graduating all participants. • Recommend for hire and supervise the coaching staff including the head coach for the men’s rowing club. • Establish and coordinate pre-season, practice and competition schedules for the program. • Stay abreast of rowing rules; adhere to the rules and regulations of the University, Athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Mid-and the Atlantic Rowing Conference, including recommendations relating to the health and safety of the rowing team. Comply with all medical decisions/protocols from Athletic Training Services related to the rowing team. A coach found to be in violation of these rules and regulations may be subject to disciplinary or corrective actions including but not limited to those set forth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association enforcement procedures. • Submit pertinent information regarding home and away contests, awards winners, eligibility and end-of-season reports according to established department protocol. • Prepare and administer the budget for the program complying with established regulations on all expenditures; organize and execute a comprehensive rowing fundraising program and an alumni development plan. • Coordinate the team travel and drive vans/trucks as necessary to transport the team and boats to off-campus events; monitor equipment, uniform and facility needs, safety standards, and inventory control. • Undertake a secondary non-coaching assignment as determined by the Executive Director. • Coordinate and supervise rowing camps and clinics; assist with the coordination and on-site supervision of the Stockton athletic camps/clinics as required. • Serve as the on-site facility supervisor for athletic and special events as required; and on office, divisional and university-wide committees when assigned. • Demonstrate, through past accomplishments and actions, the ability to support Stockton University’s diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission.
Preferred Qualifications: • Head rowing coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
Salary commensurate with experience.
