Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Medicine – Michigan Technological University, Department of Athletics and Recreation
The Assistant Athletic Director – Sports Medicine will be responsible for coordinating and administering a comprehensive sports medicine program for Michigan Tech University. The successful candidate will also perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation and development of the department that will enhance the well-being of over 350 Michigan Tech University’s Student-Athletes. The primary sport responsibility will be Division I Men’s Ice Hockey.
Essential duties will include: administering the overall sports medicine program for Michigan Tech University, including: injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs and counseling for student athletes; providing athletic training services for the University’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions; scheduling and coordinate athletic training staff and students for coverage of all team practices and athletic competitions; coordinating and scheduling medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete; coordinating athletic training services for summer sports camps; responsible for the formation and oversight of the University’s athletic training department, including hiring and supervision of assistants and graduate assistants; collaborating with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of strength and conditioning, injury prevention, and nutrition programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs; coordinating; all on-site drug testing programs of student-athletes for Michigan Tech University and the NCAA; develop and maintain the secondary insurance program, and assist the Athletic Director with the budget of the secondary insurance program; as well as other assigned duties. Requires a Master’s degree and full-time collegiate experience
