The Fitness Center Director/Assistant Athletic Director provides overall operational oversight of the fitness center, programs, and staff in addition to being responsible for intramurals and athletic facilities scheduling for practices and other use. The FCD/AAD will be responsible for all aspects of the fitness center including programming, operations, maintenance, equipment management and staffing. This individual will also serve as a resource to students, faculty, and staff for developing personal fitness programs. The FCD/AAD will serve as a member of the Athletics Leadership Team and may serve as game administrator as needed. Additional duties may be assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Note: These examples are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed in positions allocated to this class. Provide leadership, direction, and organization for the College’s Fitness Center.
Coordinate and manage all aspects of the college’s fitness center and weight room including staffing, purchase of new of equipment, usage and instruction, equipment maintenance, development of a safe, clean, educational and orderly environment, and overall cleanliness/condition of the fitness center.
Be a resource to students, faculty, and staff in the development of personal fitness programs.
Provide educational seminars on the development of fitness programs and use of the equipment in the fitness center.
Maintain a fiscally responsible budget for the fitness center.
Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, updated safety checklists, regular inspections, repair history, and necessary maintenance requests for fitness center and equipment.
Serve as a first responder when necessary, keep properly stocked first aid kit, document and refer all injuries.
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student workers, interns, and other staff.
Manage all scheduling of all athletic facilities, including practices, games, and other uses (internal and external) of Moravian College athletic facilities.
Collaborate with coaches, athletic staff, and other College employees on creating and managing the optimal scheduling of all College athletic facilities.
Coordinate and execute all facets of the intramural program. This includes, developing and publicizing a yearly schedule of offerings, overseeing the budget and organizing a staff of student workers to assist with implementation of the programs.
Maintain records and process necessary documentation for payroll.
Assist with organizing department sponsored special events.
Maintain and update policies and procedures manual annually.
Performance of other duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation.
QUALIFICATIONS: A baccalaureate degree (master’s preferred) from an accredited institution and two or more years of experience fitness /recreation management in an intercollegiate environment is required. Certification in CPR and First Aid. The position demands strong interpersonal, organizational, managerial verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability and desire to work closely with all constituencies of the College. Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule available-- days, nights and weekends as required
