The Associate Director of Development works as part of the Duck Athletic Fund to promote university fundraising priorities and brand to alumni, parents, and friends of the University. The Associate Director will work within the Duck Athletic Fund and is responsible for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and new prospects. This position will concentrate on fundraising for gifts in the “leadership annual giving” ($2,500 - $24,999) and non-major gift ($25,000 - $99,999) ranges. Occasional work in the major gift ($100k+) range is possible depending upon donor interest but is not a focus of the position.
This position is field-oriented, requiring travel and direct contact with donors and donor prospects. The Associate Director works collaboratively with colleagues in the assigned unit, Development, and across the University to identify new prospects and strategically cultivate alumni, parents, and friends. The Associate Director will be responsible for meeting fundraising goals as they relate to the strategic needs of the University and the assigned unit, priority, or region. Performance, as measured against these goals, will be evaluated annually.
The Associate Director will formulate strategies to develop annual, leadership annual, and major gifts for Women In Flight. This includes the design of strategic fundraising initiatives that support women’s athletic teams at the UO. The Associate Director will manage all communication and events as it pertains to Women In Flight and/or women’s athletic programs. The Associate Director will be responsible for renewal campaigns and for tracking quantifiable data.
Additionally, this position will serve as the Liaison to the Order of the O, the University of Oregon’s letter winners club.

Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university. • One year of professional or volunteer experience in athletic development/fundraising or experience as a Division I student-athlete.
Professional Competencies • Ability to travel to sites not regularly served by public transportation, by personal or state vehicle or other means and willingness to travel. • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and a strong sense of donor-driven customer service. • Ability to make a persuasive verbal and written case for supporting key programs and projects, effectively matching the interests of prospective donors to specific university needs. • Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software suite or equivalent software package; preference for familiarity with development or sales databases. • Ability to interact, communicate, and work effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications • Two years of professional or volunteer experience in development or fundraising OR three years’ experience in a closely related field such as corporate sales. • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate development events. • Experience as an NCAA, Division I student-athlete.
