Job Purpose Towson University, a Division I member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), is accepting applications for an Assistant Football Coach, Defensive Backs. This position will provide assistance in the areas of student-athlete recruitment, development of game plan, practice and game coaching, skills instruction, and academic monitoring.
Description The Assistant Football Coach, Defensive Backs will organize, conduct, and supervise all aspects of defensive back positions for the football program to include skill instruction, practices, competition preparation, competition-day coaching, and participation within designated conference and NCAA meetings; recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes and organize official visits including assigning hosts, creating travel itineraries, and managing all budgetary elements of visits while adhering to all NCAA regulations; assist with academic support, fundraising activities, community service, including communication and outreach to Alumni; adhere to NCAA rules, complete recruiting logs and other end-of-year summaries and correspondence in coordination with the Compliance Office; and perform other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of coaching experience, including as a graduate assistant, at the camp/clinic, high school, collegiate, or professional level. The selected candidate must have the ability to: train and recruit at the Division I collegiate level; accept and carry out assigned program and responsibilities; communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community; pass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations; and work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an Athletics Department and University. In addition, the candidate must show a demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically; and building a positive team culture and the personal and professional development of student-athletes. Experience coaching at a collegiate level and previously passing the NCAA recruiting test are strongly preferred.
