A successful candidate will understand and articulate the role that athletics and physical wellness contributes to the holistic development of young adults.
This position reports to the Head of Athletics. Poly Prep is looking for an individual with strong backgrounds in both interscholastic athletics and physical education. Candidates should be knowledgeable about fitness training and wellness, be able to articulate a long-term strategic vision for the strength conditioning program, and understands how fitness and athletics fits into a rigorous academic environment.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage and oversee all aspects of the Varsity Weight Room. Design, implement and conduct sport specific strength and conditioning programs that facilitate maximum benefits for all student-athletes to both optimize performance and decrease injury potential. Schedule, supervise and instruct student–athletes and coaches in all facets of weight training, conditioning, and nutrition. Work effectively with a diverse population and provide a supportive, motivating and safe working environment for student-athletes. Assist in the implementation of rehab programs prescribed by the sports medicine staff. Develop and maintain student-athlete records and monitor progress of training programs. Oversee general activities in varsity weight room and assist teams, coaches, staff and student-athletes as needed. Supervision of work study students. Some weekend and holiday work will be required based on specific sports seasons and team travel. Other duties as assigned by the Head of Athletics.
Minimum Requirements The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree (masters’ degree in physical education, physiology, sport science, or related field preferred). National Strength and Conditioning Association CSCS certification, CPR, AED and first aid certification. 2-3 years related work experience, demonstrated experience in administering a successful strength and conditioning program at the high school collegiate or professional level. Must be proficient in the instruction, assessment, evaluation and supervision of a broad range of training systems and sport applications, strong communication skills, knowledge of use and maintenance of fitness equipment. Possess a positive mental attitude and the ability to communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff and the community. Possessing a commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically is essential.
