The Division of Marketing and Communications serves as a strategic advisor to partners and units across campus, purposefully fulfilling partner’s goals and objectives, helping to increase knowledge, support enrollment and engage students, alumni, faculty and staff. The division proactively shapes the University’s brand and optimizes the University’s reputation internally and externally in a transparent manner. In words, in pictures, online and in the news media, the Division of Marketing and Communications shares the many stories of how DU and its people are improving the human condition, for the purpose of advancing the University’s strategies. The team specializes in brand management, strategic communication, community engagement, media relations, digital and social media strategy, website development, content training and strategy, print and online publications and videography and photography.

Position Summary The University of Denver’s Marketing and Communications Division is seeking a Content Manager who will be responsible for content development and editorial strategy for the content created by the content team made up of a Senior Editor, Senior Writer and two Junior Writers.
Essential Functions The Content Manager reports to the Director of Communications and is responsible for: Delivering engaging content on a regular basis that inspires audiences by collaborating with creative and digital teams to produce high quality and compelling content. Developing content and assignments for the content team that ladder up to University themes and strategic initiatives/priorities. Developing content for both print and online communications channels including news.du.edu, the University of Denver Magazine, internal newsletters, email marketing and more. Participating in the creation, implementation and measurement of communications strategies for divisional goals and the creation of a comprehensive editorial calendar for department owned content channels and ensures that deadlines are met. Measuring and tracking content analytics for data-based decision-making for content and distribution optimization per content channel and target audience. Overseeing at least two direct reports and working part of a beat structure to proactively collaborate with stakeholders across campus. Developing communications plans utilizing the most appropriate vehicles to reach and engage key audiences. Minimum six years’ relevant experience in journalism, content marketing and/or corporate communications.
Minimum two years’ managerial experience.
Experience working in digital environment.
Experience with email platforms and email best practices, including analytics.
Higher education experience a plus.
Experience in developing and implementing brand strategy a plus.
Copyrighting work in an advertising agency a plus.
