-Camp Winaukee is a private residential boys’ camp on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Our program offers three, five and seven week sessions for boys ages 7-15. Founded in 1920, Winaukee enjoys a reputation as one of the premier sports and adventure camps in America. -Winaukee is a special place for many reasons. Beyond being one of the premier boys sports camps in America, we divide our campers one age appropriate instruction by having two separate campuses. -The Mainland Camp has approximately 200 campers ages 7-12 and the Island Camp, located on a private island just off the Mainland, has approximately 150 campers ages 13-15. Winaukee’s two separate facilities offer all of our campers the intimacy of a small camp setting with the breadth and diversity of programming of a larger camp.

A major responsibility will be organizing various leagues and tournaments play- Our tennis specialist need to be conscientious, organized and a strong communicator to make sure we solidify all the necessary events for our campers.
Ensure standard of instruction is consistent with expectations- Our specialist need to understand that these boys love sports, but not all of them are looking to pursue in the game of tennis. It is crucial we teach them critical concepts that help them in the game, but also take into consideration that most of these campers are just participating for fun.
Develop a curriculum that ensures our athletes receive instruction in all aspects of the game-Our specialist need to be extremely creative and have multiple lesson plans that really depict all assets of the game. Not only is it important to know the ins and outs of the game, but it gives the boys a change to keep them engaged in every activity throughout the seven weeks.
Arrange, manage and coach inter-camp lacrosse tournaments- The specialist need to really have experience communicating with other coaches or directors to make sure everything is set for tournaments/inter-camps. When it comes to coaching we would like it to be a competitive atmosphere, but understand at the end of the game it is something we do not bring up in discussion. In addition, all campers get the opportunity to play in the game with no exceptions.
Work with other sports directors to share best practices- At Winaukee we are very family oriented and love to share ideas with one another. Every morning, the athletics coaches/directors meet with each other and go over events, lesson plans, and ideas that they are thinking of incorporating through activities. It is crucial to be social, engaging and open minded to new ideas in order to increase our athletic program.
Using the Winaukee Tree of Values as a core concept when coaching- Winning is not important at Camp Winaukee. At the end of the day we want our coach’s to teach these campers essential life values through sports development. These boys are all sport fanatics and love playing sports, so if they can hear the strong connection between life values and sports through an advanced sports director it will ultimately become more important for them.
Ensuring safety of our campers at all times-Understanding when “crossing the line” comes in to play. Yes, we want the campers to have fun, but we need to make sure it is done in a safe manner.
