This incumbent will develop and maintain a competitive Division II men’s basketball program in a manner compatible with the department and University philosophy, and in compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations with the highest regard for the student athlete experience.
Responsibilities include: -Supervises and evaluates the assistant coaches and team staff -Plans and oversees team practices, game preparations and scouting of opponents -Responsible for the oversight and monitoring of academic progress of student athletes -Serves as an integral part of achieving fund raising, budget and community service goals -Support the UMD Athletics mission of excellence in the Classroom, Community and Competition; while furthering the strategic plan of UMD -Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: -Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university -3 years of combined experience as a head coach or assistant coach at the high school, collegiate and/or professional level -Experience with recruiting and coaching student athletes -Experience managing an athletics budget
Preferred Qualifications: -Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations -Commitment to athletic excellence in an academic environment and the student athlete experience -MA/MS degree from a regionally accredited university -Experience as a student athlete -Demonstrated ability to communicate both written and verbally -Experience working with diverse populations -Demonstrated commitment to the student athlete experience
