The Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations is a valued member within the University and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Services (DIARS), upholding and embracing the departmental mission of “Inspiring Greatness Together.”
Under general direction of the Associate Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations is responsible for all operations within the Delaware Athletics Ticket Office. This position ensures appropriate and effective transparency and communication of operations in all ticket office functions. These functions include communications with athletics department leadership and appropriate internal and external auditors. The Assistant Athletic Director has primary accountability for decision-making in all areas of ticketing, which is one of the primary revenue sources for UD Athletics.
The incumbent will develop and manage customer service and retention strategies, which are designed to improve customer sales retention, deliver consistently positive service to various stakeholders and exceed set goals in annual ticket sales revenue. The incumbent will assist in the oversight of the CRM software to improve customer satisfaction and help drive revenue.
The Assistant Athletic Director has supervisory responsibility for two full-time staff members, periodic miscellaneous wage staff and Work-Study staff.
The position requires fairly extensive night and weekend work during certain periods, including home football, men's basketball and men’s lacrosse contests.
Coordinate and manage the entire ticket operation for the Athletics Department, which includes season tickets, individual games, student ticketing, and post-season tickets for all ticketed sports and special events.
Supervise two full time staff members and various part-time staff members.
Develop, implement and maintain ticket office policies and procedures.
Ensure appropriate and effective transparency and communication of operations in all ticket office functions including communications with athletics department leadership and appropriate internal and external auditors.
Compile all financial data regarding ticket revenue, game settlements, and audits for all events.
Direct and plan all aspects of the athletics ticket operations production calendar to ensure that deadlines are met for each sport’s ticket production and process.
Communicate and work in conjunction with other departments on necessary projects/topics regarding ticket sales.
Develop and manage customer service and retention strategies, which are designed to improve customer sales retention, deliver consistently positive service to various stakeholders and exceed set goals in annual ticket sales revenue.
Assist in the oversight of the CRM software to improve customer satisfaction and help drive revenue.
Maintain competence in the use of all functions of the ticketing system.
Assist with design, production and distribution of primary marketing publications for all ticketed sports (includes season ticket guides, ticket applications, ticket stock, schedule cards, etc.).
Ensure the control and distribution of all tickets in accordance with established policies and procedures and NCAA rules and regulations.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and three years’ experience in a computerized ticketing operation, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in Sports Management or Business related discipline preferred.
Experience with athletic ticketing system and CRM software is strongly preferred.
Ticketmaster experience and familiarity with NCAA regulations is desirable.
Background in business/financial/ accounting functions, preferably in a ticketing operation. Supervisory experience.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient computing skills and experience in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
Ability to manage a customer service-oriented office and maintaining a professional atmosphere. Strong administrative and organizational skills.
