Job Title: Instructor/ Athletic Trainer
Job Summary and Responsibilities: Develop and teach course(s) for the undergraduate accredited in Athletic Training Degree curriculum. Schedule, coordinate and present course material(s) and/or information. Educate, mentor, and supervise student athletic trainers with their participation and experience in clinical rotations. Advise and encourage students to excel in class and in clinical rotations. Professionally communicate with a diverse population to include students, staff, faculty at UND, doctors and health sciences professionals and outside affiliation(s) of Sports Medicine. Accurate documentation, record keeping and medical charting/filing and medical billing for patients. Utilize an electronic medical records system. Provide health care services for athletes competing in Division I sports events or others as determined by department. Insure athletic training services follow the Certified Athletic Trainer standards, North Dakota State Licensure Law, and UND Department of Sports Medicine policies and procedures. Provide services for indoor and outdoor athletic events which include varying climates, standing for extended periods of time on various surfaces, and light to heavy lifting. Travel for multiple days at a time when required for team coverage. Assist the Department Chair with additional duties as assigned.

The mission of the Department of Sports Medicine is to serve the region through provision of education, research and service in sports medicine. It is recognized that sports medicine is a multidisciplinary field involving many facets of the health care community. The Department of Sports Medicine functions as a coordinating entity to help other disciplines provide education, research and service in this area.Specifically, the Department of Sports Medicine provides direction for the BS in Athletic Training degree program, a medical elective in sports medicine, and residency training in sports medicine. Service components of the Department are handled through the athletic training services provided for UND athletics and the Center for Sports Medicine, a clinical practice in sports medicine. Research and continuing education are vital aspects of the Department of Sports Medicine to improve the quality of care for athletes regionwide.Through the Department of Sports Medicine's educational, research and service programs, a regional resource for sports medicine care is being established. This resource will positively impact the health care of the athlete in North Dakota and the surrounding region.
